Camel.. Pyramid.., Egypt? No. It's Jogja :)

Style Diary

A fun bright day as usual.. (it has been about several months since the last rain here.. hope it will rain soon), I drived my mom to a venue where she showcased some of her bamboo handicrafts in a local exhibition..

Near the venue, there is a building imitating the Egyptian pyramid completed with a camel statue.. Just can't help myself to not to pose there ;p

Want to have a fab asymmetrical hijab look? Watch this tutorial..

Asymmetrical Hijab Style and Tutorial

Asymmetrical look in hijab style has been on trend lately..

If I'm not mistaken, this style was first introduced by Rabia Zargarpur, a renowned Muslimah clothing designer from Dubai, UAE, with her signature gathered top sheyla.

Then after she introduced this style and wore it herself, I noticed that some online shops followed to produce shawls/scarves which imitating her designs.

And not too long ever since, following the blooming of these asymmetrical draped-look shawls, there are a mass production of asymmetrical inner scarves, especially in Indonesia, with this kind of "ruffle" on the forehead which gives an illusion of asymmetric.

Salsabeela by Ollie, a Muslimah-clothing online shop based in Indonesia, also designed and produced this kind of "hair bangs" inner scarves.

Some people thought this style can make you look younger instantly.. ;)

Nowadays, particularly in hijab shops in Indonesia, there are lots of variation and modification on this asymmetrical hijabs, either on the scarves/shawls themself or on the inners.

Some of these asymmetrical hijabs/inner-scarves came up with the addition of jewelry or beads embedded on them, like these ones from NuHijab:

You can get these NuHijab looks on Style Plum.

So.. now you can choose, to simply buy the instant asymmetrical-look scarves; Or, make your own by following this tutorial, taught by the renowned beautiful Sister Amenakin of Pearl Daisy.

This wrap from Amenakin was called Asymmenakin.. ;)

Below are one of her looks using this wrap style..

This is also one of my favorite looks of her.. Looks very stylish and beautiful as always, doesn't she? :)

My DIY (Do-It-Yourself):
Make your own asymmetrical hijab look by making a ruffle on the forehead-side of your inner scarf or your hijab, then sewing the ruffle to make the ruffle stay in shape... Voilaaaa!!! You now have an asymmetrical-look hijab/inner.

You can add beads, a bow from ribbon, or knitted flower, by sewing it right on top of the ruffle to spice up the look.. ;)

So, what do you think, lovelies? Which one do you like, the symmetrical or asymmetrical hijab style?

Style Diary: At the mid-day

Style Diary

It's about an hour past mid-day.. and nothing much she can do. It's a short "idle" minutes as a mom while she waiting for her children finishing their day in school.. She sits (sometimes stands, sometimes has a little chats with other moms, and sometimes takes photos.. ;p) there, ready to welcome her love ones and walk/drive them home :)

Have a good weekend, lovelies.

Style Shot of Color Block: Blue denim, neon pink, and mint green.

Covered-Style inspiration this week: Style Quotient

A fabulous style blog from Vancouver, Canada, named Style Quotient, some times ago showcased a color-blocked pieces.. that created a simple, casual, yet at the same time, classy edgy look..

Interestingly, in this case, pairing together few bold colors doesn't look too much, does it? ;)
Thanks to the denim which bridges up the other bold colors..

Easy to wrap.. chic different look: A hijab tutorial by zielahamir73

Hijab Wrapping Tutorial using Square Scarf

First of all, Eid Mubarak to you all.. Taqobbalallahu minna wa minkum.. May Alloh SWT accepts all the good deeds and things we've done in the past holy month of Ramadhan and also in our future days.. Amiin :)

About a month ago, I stumbled upon this youtube video by zielahamir73.. This is a hijab-wrapping tutorial video that showcases her very first try making a tutorial video.

I love on how easy the wrapping was done.. and even more.. a chic different hijab look as a result!

I've been trying to wear this style for a couple days, and I love it.. especially when I replaced the "usual" ball-tip pins, as being used in this video, with my favorite 'bow' hijab pins from velvet pins ;)

Bow hijab pins by velvet pins.

So, what do you think of this hijab style?

Watch here.. for more tutorials on hijab styling.
