DIY: Create a new hijab look - Pinch Style

What's New on Hijab Style..

Recently I saw a pretty polkadots-printed shawl in one of highstreet hijab stores. The shawl's material is spandex jersey with small dots print completed with a cloth-ring. I straightly thought that this is gonna be a unique hijab look..

And then in the next day, when I went to another highstreet hijab store, I saw this shawl, wrapped in a unique look, becoming a cover of newest Moshaict Magazine, 6th edition.. I right away started fell in love with that look..

The pretty ruffles the ring made give some extra volume to the wrap. Also, they either can give an asymmetric look to your hijab style, or, a turban look.

Eventhough I love it, I didn't rush into buying this kind of shawl/pashmina. I thought I could make this kind of shawl by myself. I could turn almost all of my 'already have' shawls or pashminas into this look, simply with just one single ring.

The ring can be made from a piece of cloth, a ribbon, or an elastic hair-ribbon or headband, or a braided-cloth, anything.. that you think can be shaped into a ring.

Or, simply put my elastic hair-ribbon or a jewel ring on to the shawl..

And this ring can easily be put 'off' or put 'onto' the shawl/pashmina.

Take a look at the pictures below.. It's super easy to make this kind of shawl by yourself with the pashmina/shawl you already have.

Below is one tutorial from that magazine showing off a hijab style using this Ring Shawl/Pashmina:

There are still lots of style you can create using this Ring Shawl/Pashmina...

And here is my DIY (do-it-yourself) project using a square scarf and a ring (literally).. ;)

What do you think of it?

So, have fun! Be creative! And stay fabulous, Lovelies!

Happy weekend! :)

Latest Designs on Ninja Underscarves

During its first days' "launching", the ninja headdress, or so called: inner ninja, usually came with a velcro-strap, buttons, string tiebacks, or elastic rubber-crepe at the back functioned as the closing and for tightening up the neck area.

Even though this inner was a great innovation in Muslimah fashion (allowing you to be more creative with your headscarf-wrapping), the "old shape" seems to be not having a perfect coverage as it still has an opened part right at the upper of your back.

So, when you wear a low neckline top and do a hijab styling that doesn't have much coverage at the back (such as a turban or braid-like headscarf wrapping), your upper back's skin will peek out and the back-look is not neat to be seen.. I've seen this happened to some Muslimahs, and unfortunately mostly they do not realize on this un-neat look.

I've ever said to my Muslim friend that we need a better design of inner ninja.. one thing that crossed my mind at that time was to do an over-lap closing at the back of inner ninja.

So, I'm very happy that finally someone/ones think about it  too and make a better design of inner ninja. Recently I found and photographed these new designs of inner ninja at a local store here in my town, and I also found them online...

Here are the new designs of inner ninja with a perfect coverage at the back..

1.) With a zip at the back.

2.) Shaped into a cropped tee.

The second design reminds me to the ResportOn sport hijab. As for the first design, it also can be found online at hijup.com:

Not only, they came up with a new closing at the back, these "new generation" of inner ninjas also came with many variation in looks... Some of them are:

'Wrap band snood' look (from Nengnong):

Crossed look with lace (from Rizky Shop):

Side-forehead pleated inner ninja (or, some people call it: slash hair inner ^_^):

Turban look (from Rayhana Kerudung):

And accessorized with jewel (from GrosirJilbabMurah and NadiraHouse):

So, what do you think of these inner ninjas? Which one is your favorite?

I personally would prefer the one with a zip at the back with a slash hair look.. ;) How about you?

Hijab styling tips (do-it-yourself):
FashFaith.com

You can make your own instant 'slash hair look' inner/headscarf from your usual inner/headscarf. Simply make small pleats from its cloth (on your preferred side of your forehead), then keep the pleats by tugging in a brooch;

Or, sew the pleats you make.. and then, on the top of the pleats, you can sew any accessories you want whether it's a bow, a crochet flower, or buttons, etc., or just keep it plain without accessories.

Have fun trying!

What's being popular here: Jilbab Sosor and Jilbab Rajut Dian Pelangi

It might be not a quite new design, as 'jilbab sosor' has been popular amongst the urban Muslimahs in Indonesia about a few months ago.

Jilbab Sosor Dian Pelangi

The design firstly introduced by a well-known Muslimah fashion designer, Dian Pelangi.

It's an instant or slip-on hijab, so you just have to slip on the hijab directly to your head, then wrap or twist the excessive flowing part of it in so many ways. No pins needed. Perhaps a beautiful brooch or some velvet pins can be added, if you want to spice it up.. :)

This "jilbab" comes in so many various colours in Dian's signature design, tie-dye motifs.

The best part is you don't have to wear a ninja headdress to get many looks of hjab style. Here are some appearances of 'jilbab sosor':

The plain part acts as the inner while the "colourful" part can be wrapped up according to your desire.

You can see how Dian Pelangi styled up the 'jilbab sosor' in her site, here, here, and here.

Another new collection of hijabs by Dian Pelangi that I noticed quite popular too is 'jilbab rajut' (= knitted shawl) that made in colour gradations.

Below is my favorite colour gradation of Dian Pelangi's knitted headscarf/shawl, grades from navy blue to yellow-ish green:

Check out one look on how Dian Pelangi wear this kind of headscarf here.

Do you own Dian Pelangi's 'jilbab sosor' or 'jilbab rajut'? What is your thought about these kind of headscarves?

Do share a link / links in the comment's section below if you know any tutorials of the possibilities on how we can style up these scarves.. :)

Stay fabulous!

(Editor's note: Indonesian people usually call hijab/headscarf/tudung/kerudung as 'jilbab')

Latest Designs in Headscarf

New Headscarf-Looks.

As long as I know, there are new designs in headscarf lately. Few of them that I noticed are from Rabia Z. and Maysaa collection.

1. Rabia Z.

Rabia Z. has launched two new designs in headscarf. The designs are called: Rabia Z. signature gathered-top jersey sheyla and Rabia Z. signature gathered-cowl-neck jersey sheyla.

I really want these sheyla so bad.. but, they are just too pricy for me ;)

Here are the looks of the signature sheylas/shawls:

Besides Rabia Z. collection, one online hijab shop that I know also sells this kind of scarf/sheyla is Amalia Collection which is based in Sydney, Australia. They call their design of this sort of shawl: Hot Turban Style shawl. The fabric is cotton jersey.

In colour: matte brown.

These shawls also come in thin cotton fabric (or in Indonesia, we used to call this fabric: Paris) with Leopard prints on it:

You can see their colletion of these shawls here on their facebook page.

2. Maysaa.com

Maysaa (with the designer, Hana Tajima-Simpson) also launch their new collection in headscarf. It is not really a brand new one, but it was a new production of the past Maysaa signature chiffon scarf snood.

This scarf have been famous for its distinctive design and its sophisticated-edgy look. Here are the new production of this scarf snood:
