Indonesia's Muslimah Style Icon: Inneke Koesherawati, in her 'streetstyle' look

StreetStyle Hijab

Not so long ago, I went to a bookstore where I saw Dian Pelangi's very first fashion book: Hijab Street Style.

I knew about the launching of this book from the news of Sisterhood's event about six months ago in Jakarta. But I've never had a chance to take a look at the physical book.. until now.

I was curious about what's inside the book.. what kind of street styles are represented in this book. I took the book, which was put on a bookshelf, then I took long-minutes standing in front of the bookshelf, just to see and enjoy page-after-page.. With its "the sartorialist" style (less words, more images), this book is full of full-page, full-colored images of Muslimah streetstyles from various cities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

Then.. close to the end of this book's pages, I saw two impressive looks that really caught my eyes.. Whose looks are they? I love them! Ohh.. those are looks of Inneke Koesherawati, a television star and a model; one of my favorite Muslimah style icons in Indonesia.. In this book, she was sporting my favorite "European style"! :)

The photos seem being taken in Paris, France, during Inneke and Dian's touring to Europe as a Brand Ambassador of Wardah Cosmetics.

I love Inneke's whole look in those photos, also every wardrobe-pieces showed up as a part of the looks.. the trench-coat, the boots, the bag, the sunglasses, how she wrapped her headscarf asymmetrically, and even a pop of inner-sleeves around her wrists.. ;)

Well, what do you think of Inneke's looks here?

Have you seen Dian Pelangi's Hijab Street Style book? Whose look do you adore so much as you might thought "it's sooo YOU" ?

Can't wait for the second 'INTERNATIONAL' edition of this book (as Dian plans to)! ;)

The Orange burst

At school..

(Photo: courtesy of Rania © FashioningFaith Blog)

At my children's school, I adore one mother for her fashion taste. I love her stylish look and her choice to sometimes playing fashionably with colours.

One day, she wore an outfit in lots of colours, from peach, red, green, yellow, and black (either on the outfit itself, the headscarf, inner-scarf, and its accessories), but somehow she could manage the colours into a perfect combination of a 'pleasant to see' look.

The other day, she wore a plain outfit, but with a hint of colours from her accessories (big ring, bag, watch, or headscarf). Unfortunately, I usually could not capture these looks, because I  forgot to bring my camera when I take my children to school.

About few days ago, I saw her again. This time, she wore a bright outfit beautifully. She wore a pretty colour orange-d dress, matched with a unique cut (loose cut at the upper arms and longer cut at the back) of  white cardigan. She carried a fringed black handbag (it looked like a hand-made local-product handbag), paired with black-grey shoes. Her choice to wore a neutral colours (in this case: black) for her bag and shoes was perfect to balance and tone down the bright outfit.

As usual, I did not bring my camera with me, so I snap her look by my cell-phone. The result... not a good 'sartorialist' photograph.. ;p It was blur and did not show the details of the outfit.

Next time I have to make sure I bring my camera with me, and... ask her to pose specially for me.. ;)

Boots and Dresses are In!

Trans-seasonal Fashion

To welcome Fall season in some countries, Net-A-Porter has set up a modern match for your look by teaming high hemlines with edgy ankle boots.

Still wearing the pretty Summer dress.. but, matched it up with a pair of Fall style staple, the urban ankle boots, to add a sense of Autumn breeze and for the ultimate trans-seasonal fashion match.

Style note: For hijabi like us, simply add a trouser or a skirt, and then layer it up with an outerwear (a light jacket, cardigan, blazer, or trench coat) if the dress is sleeveless. Or, you can wear your long-sleeved maxi dress or long-sleeved maxi jumpsuit underneath the Summer sleeveless minidress.

Pop up your headscarf and you are ready to go! :)

The addition of a vest, or a belt, or minimalist accessories, can also jazz up the looks.

For easy outfit-styling for hijabi, simply wear a maxi instead of a mini dress, and give it a modern edge with one of these ankle boots, then accessorized it with a jacket or a vest. I love the look of it!.. A flowy, feminine, pretty maxi dress teamed up with urban, edgy ankle boots..

As for ankle boots, my favorite lately are the lace-up ones.. ^_^

Observation made during London Fashion Week.

Stunning! Really love this maxi dress. A black velvet maxi dress, fulled of textures, with a dark-brown drop at the lower back. An abaya twist??

All you have to do is put the hijab on..

A classy style..

All of a sudden pinks reds and oranges seem to work so well together. I love her sweater hand-painted with pink, not to mention the elaborate orange collar.

Never thought that red will get along well together with fuschia pink, especially with a little color pop of 'pumpkin' yellow. Only Susie the one who can pull out this color mix! Her style is so unique.

My favorite... a well-tailored long peach coat. Never go wrong...
