End of Year 2011's Style & Fashion News

Hello, Everyone.

This is the first post in the year of 2012. I want to wish you all the best and may Alloh SWT bless you in the future days.

Here is a quotation I love from People Who Inspire Us which I think would be a good spirit for us on starting our new days in 2012 :
Inspire yourself and others will be inspired. Motivate yourself and others will be motivated. Develop yourself and others will start to develop themselves.
Be an example first and then the world changes around you.
(- Author Unknown)

Today, I want to share a great news on Muslimah Fashion and some style tips I found at the end of 2011, and several new modest clothing lines for women.

A great news, especially for Indonesia, came from Paris, France.

As you have read from my previous post here about The International Fair of The Muslim World 2011 in Le Bourget Exhibition Center, Paris, on December 2011, thirteen top muslimah fashion designers from Indonesia held an exhibition/fashion show to showcase their designs and collection in that event.

And... the great news is... the fashion designs from Indonesian designers become THE BEST and THE MOST FAVORITE at this International Fair in Paris, France!!

Indonesia also get an honour as the honourable country, L'Indonesie Pays D'Honneur (negara kehormatan). This means that Indonesia can be the world's hub of Muslim Fashion.

Yeeyy... I love to hear this and I am glad for you, Indonesia! :)

Next International Fair of the Muslim World InshaAllah will be held on November 2, 3 and 4, 2012, in Le Bourget - Paris. So, keep an eye out! ;)

Friniggi: a new promising modest sportwear

Sport Hijab

I've been following this modest-sportswear Brand since a long time ago, when "the team" behind this brand was still developing their designs and products (I filled in the survey they made when they were still in a pre-designing stage of their products), up until now when they are ready to launch their products.

In my opinion, Friniggi sports wears are great and promising. According to their information, the products' details, and the pictures of the products they sent to me through emails, this Islamic workout-clothes they have are performance oriented.
The garments are:
  • breathable
  • moisture-wicking
  • light-weight
  • Islamically modest
  • fuss free, no layering required
  • allows for freedom of movement
MODEST PERFORMANCE SPORTSWEAR

Stay comfortable, cool & dry in friniggi
moisture management tops.

Choking in your amira hijab?
The friniggi sports hijab comes in 6 different sizes designed for comfort. And modesty.

As for the tops,
Friniggi Sports Tops are made from moisture management fabric that wicks sweat away from the body. Lightweight and breathable, it dries quickly too.

Compare with wearing a cotton tee for sports, even though it is comfortable and cool, but it is not suitable for high-intensity physically-active exercise, such as soccer or running.

Cotton absorbs heat and moisture; this is not good when what you need is to stay cool and dry. It also absorbs all the sweat we produce while exercising, and this will make our clothing heavier. This is what we do not want to while doing 'full-of-sweat' high intensity exercise.

And for the head-covering, according to their site, the Friniggi Sports Hijabs are lightweight, moisture-wicking and come in six different sizes to ensure the 'fit'ness and 'comfort'ness. Also, they are designed as one piece in compact shape (so, no pins required), no alien-head/scuba diver look, and specialized cut to cover chest (it's a good news for you who want your hijab covers your chest on top of the clothing you're wearing).

The thoughts behind this brand:
Friniggi Sportswear is all about sport and modest Muslim women, especially is dedicated for the Western Muslim woman whether she was born and raised in the west or is ethnically western, where usually the environment is not "hijabi-friendly". The West usually doesn't have women-only facilities like Muslim-oriented countries do.

Friniggi Sportswear is focused on improving "these women" 's athletic performance in a stylish, modest way.

The Friniggi Sportswear's online store is due to open on March 1st, 2012. But right now, they are already taking pre-orders from December 5th, 2011, to January 15th, 2012.

If you interested, go to friniggi.com to place your pre-order, or simply take a look at their lovely collection in several designs and colors.. :)

So, what do you think of this sportswear?

iLoveModesty's Charming Hijab Styling

Featuring their new Abaya Charm Collection

Recently, iLoveModesty, a Canadian brand of modest clothing for women which has a unique taste in scarves' design, shared their hijab-style guide in their latest facebook photos on their page.

I love the hijabs and on how they style their 'one of a kind' scarves as a complement to their new Abaya Collection.

To see the tutorials on how they wrap these lovely headscarves into these chic looks, check out their facebook album here.

This hijab styling is suited for an elegant, lady look.

Hmm.. a romantic, girly look?

My favorite. I love the abaya's fresh color and the pleats' design on the head.. ;)
This look is so 'young and trendy'.

This hijab styling, with a bow on the side, is really nice for office or formal look.

Fuchsia Riverstone

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 6
Theme: Date with Hubby

What color is Fuchsia?

The hot Pink-Purple color is called Fuchsia. On the purple side of pink, fuchsia is another name for magenta... and here is myself sporting my new favorite scarf, Fuchsia Riverstone Batik Scarf, for my "a week late" Hijabi Fashion Week - Day 6's Look: going date with hubby.. ;)

The scarf was made by a handmade-weaving technique with cute fuchsia riverstones motifs on it. The color gave a sense of romantic; the materials and the motifs gave a sense of ethnic yet fashionable and edgy.

(Photos: Copyright © Rania of FashioningFaith Blog)

Outfits:
  • Scarf by Ina'sScarf: Riverstone motifs, handmade woven made in Indonesia by the local craftmen. I am proud wearing this scarf.. :)
  • An ethnic necklace from Kalimantan worn as a bracelet.
  • Wedges with hexagonal motifs; The motifs look like Phyton-skin motifs.

Vacation Look

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 4
Theme: Vacation/Destination

If... I could go to anywhere in the world for a vacation or as an ideal destination that I'd love to be in, I would go to Europe and New Zealand.

WHY?!

Because... those countries are like fairy tales for me who was born and live in tropical country. I want to experience the difference.. Feel the different nature, weather, and culture. Also, I want to feel how it likes to be in the 'four seasons' countries. I want to see their beautiful nature-scenery and the magnificent old buildings they have. I want to taste the dishes and the local fruits... Watch the people and their street styles.

And, if I arrive during Winter, I would love to see and play with the snow.. Ohh.. and there's one more thing that can't be more exciting, is that I could be creative with my outfits using all the layering stuffs! ;)

Here is the outfit I would wear to reach my dreamed destination:

With the sunglasses and a light-weight maxi dress I worn, surely I should go in Spring/Summer time of those countries :)

Breaking the Rules: Checkered with checkered

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 3
Theme: Break the Rules

Usually, in daily life, I do not wear an outfit with "too much" motifs or prints, especially if the outfit also be in various colors.

Today, for Hijabi Fashion Week's Break the Rules theme, I broke up my own fashion rule.. :) I tried to pair check pattern with check pattern in several different colors... thing that I've never done before.

Here is the picture of the outfit.. I was sporting two-toned checkered blazer (red-white and black-white check pattern), with checkered vintage minidress in dark blue and black:

Outfit:
Blazer by Philip, Yogyakarta.

What did you think of this?
Did I succeed breaking the rule stylishly? Or, did I ruin the outfit?... hahhaha.. :D
(ohh.. I forgot to mention that this didn't include the mask I held... :o)

Random Inspiration

Things that inspire me

Business and Achievement:
Start now! Simply with your BIG idea!

Life:
Quotation from Bukik.com while interviewing Aulia Halimatussadiah a.k.a. Ollie, the founder of NulisBuku.com, and the author of Salsabeela.com:
I want to live life to the fullest. Enjoy every moment. Be in the moment.
“Saya adalah orang yang saya putuskan saat ini”. (My translation: "I am is what I decided to be").

Parenting:
Because I am a mother of two boys, I always love reading about parenting issue. An article by Hanzky on MommiesDaily.com reminds us about one of the most important things we should do as a parent:

Have You Been Listening with Your Eyes?
——
A little girl came home from school with a drawing she’d made in class. She danced into the kitchen, where her mother was preparing dinner.

“Mom, guess what?”, she squealed, waving the drawing.

Her mother never looked up.

“What?”,  She said, tending to the pots.

“Guess what?” The child repeated, waving the drawing.

“What?” the mother said, tending to the plates.

“Mom, you’re not listening”

“Sweetie, yes I am”

“Mom”, the child said. “You’re not listening with your eyes”.

Don’t we hate it when we talk to someone and his/her eyes are not looking at us? We hate it because makes us feel ignored and less valuable.

Read it more here.
