Jakarta Fashion Week 2013: Threelogy

Runway Report

Since I'm not living in Jakarta, I haven't had a chance to watch Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) on live.

Fortunately, we can always get the "runway reports" from other fashion media either online or offline, or via the event's official site.. :) And we can always find something inspiring and fresh coming up from the shows like this..

As for this year Jakarta Fashion Week, JFW 2013, one show that grabbed my attention was a show titled THREELOGY.

It was the show that showing off collections by three, young and talented Indonesian Muslimah Fashion designers: Ria Miranda, Restu Anggraini, and Noni Zakiah.. The collections were fabulous.

Ria Miranda with her feminine-romantic touch turned the stiff, garish-coloured, Minangkabau Songket textile into a softer look using faded-colours songket; while Restu Anggraini with her edgy street style rose up the Goyor saroong from Pemalang; and Noni Zakiah with her bold signature style showed up with the stand-out motif-ed, NTB (Nusa Tenggara Barat)'s tenun textile.

A Glance from Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival 2012

Creativity and Diversity in Muslim Fashion.

At Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival recently (May 23, 2012, in Hotel Harris, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta), four well-known Islamic fashion designers from Indonesia showing off their latest collections in a fashion show as part of the Festival's series. With the show's title "Into The Future", these four designers came up with their own uniqueness in concept and design.

Jeny Tjahyawati came up with her "water inspired" designs dominated by aquatic colour-palette, from blue to aqua green and its gradation. Tuty Adib came with her shiny "cosmic nuance" collection in "atmospheric lights colour-palette such as dark brown and purple, mixed with green, yellow and orange. Dian Pelangi with her signature "youngsters style" collection in tie dye motifs and soft/pastel colours; and, Nuniek Mawardi with her colourful "minimalism-futuristik" designs.

Interesting right? As we know, there are lots of creativities that can be poured into "covered style" fashion... and then they create diversity in Muslimah Fashion.

Indonesia, Colouring the Muslim Fashion World

News from The International Fair of The Moslem World, December 14th-19th, 2011, in Paris, France.

Dian Pelangi with her collection. In Paris, Dian showcased 10 set of her collection in the fashion show as the opening show, inspired by the Russian style for Winter fashion.

As a continuation from my previous post: End of Year 2011's Style and Fashion News, about Indonesian Muslim Fashion that was acknowledged as the best and the most favorite design in the International Fair of The Moslem World 2011 in Le Bourget, Paris, France, an interesting news also came from Kompas Female newsletter.

It is written that not only Muslimah Fashion's designs from Indonesian designers have "a big applause" at The International Fair in Paris, but also the way Indonesian Muslim women wrap their headscarf attracted a big attention of people in Paris, France.

And below is the picture of Dian Pelangi in Indonesian booth at the event, giving a tutorial on how she wrap her headscarf in turban style:

According to Dian's prediction, as she said to Kompas Female newsletter here, after the 'drape-y look' hijab wrapping, which is so 'in trend' amongst urban young Muslimah in Indonesia last year, the 'turban style' hijab wrapping would be a trend in 2012.

One thing from the news that also grab my attention is about Dian Pelangi's Coat.

It is the almost "sold out" piece from Dian Pelangi Collection in that event. It showed that many people in Paris love Dian's coat design, especially perhaps because they were in Winter during that event and they love colorful outfits, so the stylish, shocking-color, ethnic coat would be an attraction for them.

I'm so in love with the coat, too.. :)

The coat was made from modified Palembang woven materials which made in Indonesia.
I love the coat's well-tailored cut, motif and color.

Rabia Z. Fall 2011 collection

Dubai Fashion Week, April 19th - 23rd, 2011

During the Dubai Fashion Week Fall/Winter show in April 2011, I did not have a chance to post anything about it. I knew that one of my favorite fashion designers, Rabia Z., participated on that event, but then I forgot to post her fabulous designs on the Fashion Week's runways.

Recently found the official Dubai Fashion Week's youtube channel, and there was a video on Rabia Z., showcasing a glimpse of Rabia Z.'s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection in that event.

Enjoying Ramadhan.. Enjoying the sun(set)-light.. Enjoying our Faith..

Fashioning Faith: Waiting for Iftar

Saturday afternoon, August 20th, 2011, at Dixie - Easy Dining Cafe... Felt the sun(set)light warmed my face and have a really good time. Eventhough the sunlight was a bit garish, honestly, I enjoyed it. The light was not as hot as it felt during the mid-day and the breeze was a bit cold for me, so the sunlight really can warm me up.. :)

Here we are, on the last few days of Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah.. so far, this year's Ramadhan's Fasting has been so good and easy for me.. (even, I enjoyed it.. because I didn't have to be bothered about "the activities of eating".. ^_^, so I could focus on other activities).

One thing that I love during Ramadhan is the time in the afternoon while we were waiting for 'iftar' (breaking our fast). It's usually filled out with many 'positive' activities we did with other Muslims/Muslimahs.

On August 20th afternoon, my Hijabers Community's friends held a mini fashion show, bazaar, also hijab and make-up tutorial, in coordination with Dixie - Easy Dining Cafe, Wardah - beauty cosmetic, and Honda - pitstop Ramadhan.

I had a really good time and made some new friends with other Muslimahs who also attended this event. We were entertained by a live music by two beautiful sisters with beautiful voices, and the event was spiced up with gifted-quizzes from sponsors.

Muslimah Bridal Fashion Show

by the Students of 'Rias dan Busana', Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY)

at Yogyakarta Fashion Lunch, April 23rd, 2011; Royal Garden Resto, Yogyakarta

Last week, I attended a Fashion Lunch held in Yogyakarta in regard to Kartini's Day, and watched the Fashion Show. The show was divided into two session. First the 'Kebaya' (traditional women clothing in Indonesia) Fashion Show by several designers in Yogyakarta, then continued by Muslimah Bridal Fashion Show by the students of UNY.

Here are some pictures of Bridal Fashion Show I took from the show. The make-up, clothing, headdresses styles, and hijab accessories/jewelries were influenced by Middle East and Javanese Traditional Brides.

Most of the models were modelling 'kebaya', too.
