Summer Casual Maxis

FashFaith's Picks of The Week... :)

To welcoming this Summer season, I prefer the casual style.

Maxi dress is always be a "good friend" in Summer.. It prevents the sunlight to "hit" your skin directly, especially if you wear the long-sleeved one, and, in the same time, gives you a breeze from its well-circulated air inside the dress.

Here are a few maxi dresses of my picks:

Splendid Tee Maxi Dress

Lanston Boyfriend Maxi Dress

Parker Long Pleated Dress
Parker - Long pleated dress

Hijab Styling Tips:
When you choose to wear a maxi dress, make sure that it is not sheer. But if you pick the sheer one, wear an underdress inside the maxi dress, not leggings... because leggings still can give a silhouette of your body (read: legs).

And, wear an edgy outerwear (such as a jacket, blazer, cardigan, or even a cropped long-sleeved tee as an outer wear) if you wear a short-sleeved or sleeveless maxi dress.

So... Happy Summer days, Lovelies! :)

CHANEL Resort 2012

Hijab-Friendly stuffs on the Runway

Ever thinking about these?

The hybrid thong-boot footwear that can also be a 'bottom-extension' for hijabi.. :)

I've ever saw a kind of bottom-extension in 'UpToDate', a high-end hijab shop in Indonesia. The 'bottom-extension' is an open-toes thick sock made by knitting. The function and how-to-wear is the same as the already-popular sleeves-extension. The models of UpToDate wear this kind of bottom-extension while they are wearing midcalf-length skirts or dresses.

The shoes from Chanel Resort 2012 collection, or so called 'the thong-boot footwear', look lighter, softer, and more suitable for Summer than boots... I'm really in love with the shoes.

The weakness is when you wear a midcalf-length skirt/dress with these shoes, and then you want to enter the mosque, you can't take the shoes off. Unless.. you're wearing socks underneath.. :)

Wearing a shirt and jeans with a loose long-sleeves top underneath the shirt and wide-leg pants over the jeans.. Sounds like trying to hijabified? ;)

Accessorized with a scarf-tie that matches with the sleeves and pants..

PLEATED DRESS WITH A LONG, SLEEVELESS VEST

Pleated skirt is a hot trend this season. Why don't you make your own pleated maxi-skirt, or pleated maxi-dress with a pair of long sleeves, or a pleated abaya..?

The add of long, sleeveless vest/jacket over the dress made the whole look more chic and modest.

WIDE-LEG or LOOSE PANTS

They are surely a hijabi's bestfriends.. :)

Aab's Pink Paisley

Beautiful black abaya from Aab.

(Photo: courtesy of Aab)

Not too long ago, Aab, an abaya shop based in the UK, introduced their new arrival, Pink Paisley Abaya. Made from soft brushed linen and a dash of silk threads for the embroidery, this abaya should be comfort and cool to wear, even for the Summer.

Love the abaya's cut, embroidery of pink paisley on the sleeves, the photo scene, and especially the way the headscarf was wrapped.. beautiful!

Summer Hijab Style for Beginners

Again, Summer Hijab Tutorial from Sister Amena on her youtube channel!

Hijab tutorial for Summer season always be my favorite... since I live in tropical country where we have hot weather all year long!

In my opinion, in Winter, it's easier to wear almost all creation of  hijab style we want to. We don't have to worry about "we will be getting hot in this kind of hijab style", or some thoughts like that. Sometimes, I wish I can have Winter here. I want to feel what it feels like to be in cold weather, and try out all the "Winter Style" I love... :) and have fun playing with lots of layers!

In Summer or in few countries like mine, we need to be more creative to create a kind of hijab style or to find fabrics/materials that would make us feel comfortable in hot weather. To keep the style less layers, less stuffy, loose, breathable, and "light-weight".

Umm... but on the second thoughts, I think each season has their own "FUN", whether it's Summer, Winter, and also Spring and Autumn. So, just enjoy all seasons! and let's watch this video from Amena! (...because I've been too much talking... ^_^).

In this video, Amena using a quite transparent scarf to make this hijab style feels "light-weight" without make it "see-through". This hijab wrapping can be an addition alternative for a quick and easy Summer Hijab.

Mix - Match Bold Colors With Neutral Tones

Style Inspiration

(Image: Elle.com)
Strong and too many bold colors sometimes look overpowering and messy. Try to 'soften' bold hues with this simple mix-match to smarten up your look.

Simply partner neutral colors with hot pink or crisp blue for a cool, minimalist feel...

Add a hot pink blazer over your outfits to twist your neutral shades look.

Modest Cover Ups with Pinstripes

Spring/Summer 2010

Inspired by Wall Street gravitas, these runway pinstripes will be an investment-worthy to your wardrobes.

You can teaming up the pinstripes with unexpected floaty floral silk dresses, as seen at Roberto Cavalli, or Dustbowl era tea dresses à la Ralph Lauren.

A sharply tailored blazer by Ralph Lauren is well matched with loose jeans, a classic shirt and a brown leather belt. My favorite looks are picture number 2 (pinstripes-suits by Vivienne Westwood... Love the sophisticated cut of the suits), and number 5 (peach-pink dress paired with pinstripes-blazer by Ralph Lauren... Beautifully feminine... and I think the pinstripes-blazer adds a smart tone to the dress).

What do you think? Which look is your favorite?

For this upcoming weekend, merge the look into your weekend wardrobe and wear with roughed-up denim and a classic T-shirt.

I just watched Amena's channel on youtube, and I want to share to you this another Summer Hijab Style from Amena. A lovely, secure style for when the weather is really hot!

I know that Summer always be a challenge for us as a hijabi. We need a comfort style againts hot weather. Especially for me who live in tropical country which the weather is always hot, I always look for comfort yet stylish Summer Hijab Styles... need more options on style and on choosing comfort materials for Summer Hijab.

I think I would definitely try this Summer style. No underscarf... hmmm... this surely will make us cooler... :)

Note: Please make sure you select an appropriate scarf before you go trying to poke slides through your favourite hijabs! And when you put in the slides, it also goes through the hair. But, if you don't want to use slides, you can use hijab pins as well.

The Grey Opaque Hijab Amena has used in this tutorial, as well as the Pink Brooch, are both from www.pearl-daisy.com.

What do you think? Would you like to try this style?

At the Beach

It's been soooo long since my last post. Over the past few weeks, there's a problem with my notebook and the internet connection. I can't send anything... messages, email, posting... all must be delayed. So, while waiting for the technician fixing my problem this couple of days, I decided to spend some times with my family... :)

My sister had planned to go to the beach. We all agreed, and... this is it. Very happy and excited... enjoying the sand, the sea waves around my feet, the coral reefs, and the sun... really looove being on the beach!

These are few pictures I had taken, and I'd like to share with you.

A friend of mine
(Photos: Courtesy of Rania @ Fashioning Faith)

What I wore:
T-shirt: a simple long-sleeved cotton t-shirt.
Skirt: a super light-weight skirt. It dries so quickly when it gets wet. Perfect to be wore to the beach. Underneath the skirt, I was wearing a pair of swimwear leggings, so the legs will stay covered if the skirt was blowing up by the wind or by sea waves.
Belt: an elastic coral-white belt, built of small coral-stones.
Headscarf: a purple square scarf, folded into rectangle and wrapped in a loose wrap style as Hana did with pashmina, but I pinned the long-end of the scarf onto my tee (because the scarf is shorter than pashmina), so it will stay in place. Here is the tutorial.

Fun Summer Jackets Style Snaps and Summer 2010 Maxi-Dress Picks

Happy Summer!

Yesterday I was looking at one of hijab stores at my city, and I've just came across these fun summer jackets :)

In the Summer, instead of wearing a thick-heavy jacket or stuffy cardigan, it's more comfort to wear a light-weight or cotton jacket. Or, you can wear shirts or blouses with front-open-buttons as Summer 'jackets'... :)

Pair a jacket with sleeveless Summer tops or maxi dresses for 'cool' cover-ups... Maxi Dress is a good choice for Summer. It has a really good air-circulation to keep us cool, isn't it? :)

And these are my favorite Maxi Dresses from Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Maxi dress and belted jacket from Aquascutum

(Photo images via Vogue)

As an alternative look, or even a solution for maxi dress that has too-open-part at the top, try to wearing it with a belted long-jacket  à la Aquascutum and cover the bosom with your big-size headscarves.

Do you have your favorite cover-ups for Summer?
