Review's Update: Feedback from Capsters team

Sports
(Photo: courtesy of Capsters)

Regarding to my review on Capsters 'Runner-type' Sports Hijab, the designer of Capsters, Cindy van den Bremen, has kindly gave her feedback on my suggestion about Capsters Runner. You can read my Capsters Review here

Here is the feedback from Cindy and her information on the issue I got with my Capsters Runner:
Dear Rania,

Thank you for sending the link to your blog and placing your review. Also much thanks for the improvements you suggested.
We're probably going to lower the Runner collar with the next production, as we did with our Capsters Team.
We are probably going to add another color variation as well ;-)

As far as the extra space for a hair knot in the hijab: that's actually how I originally designed the sports hijabs. but the feedback I got was that the hijabs were too loose. So I tightened the designs for a snugger fit. Leaving little room for extra hair ;-)
Nevertheless, our Capsters Aerobics does have a special feature: a hairbag in the back that you can put your ponytail in so that the hijab and your hair stays in place while jumping and running.

I will place a link to your blog on our Capsters Facebook fanpage!
Kind regards,
Cindy van den Bremen
Designer of Capsters

In Capsters' Facebook page, the Capsters team also gave their solution about this issue:
We suggest the Capsters Aerobics for those of you with lots of hair: it has a separate hairbag in the back! Also our Capsters Basic has a bit looser fit around the head, leaving room for a big knot of hair ;-)
So, if you have a long and thick hair, you better go for Capsters sports Aerobic or casual Basic

Also, in their next production, Capsters will lower the Runner's collar and add more colour variation as well. Isn't it fantastic?

As you already read in my review, the Runner's materials are excellent.. and, with the forthcoming new design of Runner, I'm sure it would be worth it to have one.. (or two, perhaps.. ^_^).

Capsters - Sports Hijab

Review

About one month ago I received a package from Capsters Sports Hijab. It's a giveaway for me from Capsters.

Capsters is one of the sponsors of Hijabi Fashion Week (HFW) May 2011. You must be already knew about that event from my previous posts. Capsters gave away HFW's participants a sports hijab of their choice to be wore in that event for category: Day 3 - Work Out Wear, and asked what the participants' thoughts about Capsters Hijab?

I've been so lucky to receive it! Thank you, Capsters! :)

I chose Capsters Sports Hijab type 'Runner', colour black.

It came in a nice big envelope with Capsters' logo and address printed on it. When I opened the package, my 'Runner Capsters' was carefully presented in a good thick zipped plastic bag, again with Capsters' logo on it, along with capsters brosur consisted of pictures of variety type of Capsters Hijab.

First Impression:
I directly fall in love with the materials. It feels soft, cool, breathable, and smelt nice.. :) The design look perfect for sports. It's a kind of instant or slip-on hijab. The way to wear it is: you simply pull it over your head, then slide it down.. Ready! No pin, no knot, no tie.

I'm so thrilled with pleasure receiving this capsters and can't wait to try it for working out!

The look and how it felt when it is wore:
'Runner' Sports Hijab felt very comfortable to wear. It's very light-weight and soft. It covers my head comfortably letting me feel the air flow around my head, keeping my head cool, and letting me transpire easily just like they said on the website.

I have tried to wear it while I'm bicycling in the middle of the day (when the sunshine is very hot and in Indonesian 'humid and hot' tropical climate like this!), for about one hour. Terrific! Its breathable materials gave me a comfort like no other headscarves I have did while I'm working out. It felt like I'm not wearing anything on my head.

Here's me sporting Capsters 'Runner' on Hijabi Fashion Week May 2011 - Day 3: Work Out Wear:

It fits perfectly on my head and neck.. very simple and practical.. no flowing, hanging, or bulged materials.

Wearability:
Capsters 'Runner' looks similar with 'ninja' headdress which is so popular lately in Indonesia as an inner scarf.

So, if you have this type of Capsters, especially in colour black, you will get not only an excellent hijab for sports, but also a comfortable inner scarf! :)

Or, you can simply wear it just it is.

Areas that I thought need an improvement:
1). The length of Capsters 'Runner', for me, needs to be lengthened to reach upper bosom.

I have a long and thick hair, so before I put my hijab on, I tie it in a pony tail, then roll it upper the back of my neck. I roll my hair up because I don't want it peeking out from the bottom of my hijab, and I don't quite like the feeling of my hair touching my back-neck while I'm working out.

But when I put on my 'Runner' hijab, it lifted up a bit because of my "hair do", and causing my upper bosom peeking out a bit... So, for me in particular, it is not suitable to be worn with low-necklined tops.

2). Need to build some kind of space or volume inside the 'Runner' hijab to place a long/thick hair... perhaps a new design or creating a particular shape of sports hijab for those who have long and thick hair.

When I wore my 'Runner', my hair inside gave an illusion of square-shaped head... ^_^. So, as you see in the above pictures, I wore it with a wide headband or a mini scarf over it.

Or perhaps, I should tie and place my hair right on the back of my neck, not too high, while I'm wearing it, to be look like the model in Capsters' website.. :)
Runner

3). More colour choices.

Overall:
The 'Runner' Sports Hijab is terrific! Very useful and helpful. It gives you full coverage without losing your comfort.

I'm so happy to have it, because I love to work out, jogging, bicycling and playing badminton with my kids, or just having fun playing with them in the sports-field.

And particularly in Indonesian tropical climate (humid and hot), the 'Runner' sports hijab as an inner scarf is perfect and gives an advantage which is you can be more creative with your hijab wrapping.. whether you want to wrap your hijab in a loose style or turban style, you don't have to worry that your hair and neck will be showed up.

Go to Capsters' website: www.capsters.com to see more details of 'Runner' Sports Hijab and also other Capsters' fabulous type of Sports Hijab.

Some types that I love too from the site are Capsters Aerobics, Outdoor (perfect for Winter)Swim, and Easy which I think would be useful and... (this is important too) have STYLISH modern designs.. :)

Wild Mesh Shawl from Hijab House Australia

Quick Product Review

I just had a gift from Hijab House, Australia. It's a hijab/shawl!

The first thing I love from it is... its print! I've been looking for hijab with this kind of print, the Leopard print... Eventhough it's a very popular print, I don't have one yet until a few weeks ago.. hehe.

It's a square hijab, size: about 120 cm x 120 cm (L). The shawl is a mix of plain hijab and leopard-print soft lace in creme-brown. It looks like two hijabs sewed become one.

The fabric is super soft, cool and breathable. You can wear it through all seasons along the year! :) It's also very easy to wrap.

Really in love with this shawl... it's so comfortable to wear. Two thumbs up for Hijab House for designing this hijab.

It becomes my favorite hijab!

Wild mesh shawl 'in action'! :)

Can't wait to see Hijab House get onlined in the net-sphere.. :) I'm craving to have more pieces of Hijab House collection! The hijab collection are sooo beautiful!

If you don't know yet about Hijab House (HH); Or, if you're curious to see their collection, simply go to their Facebook page here. The wild mesh shawl is in their Style me up! album: the Safari Luxe.

Safari Luxe from HH Facebook's album 'Style me up!'

Note: Unfortunately, the colors of wild mesh hijab I received is a bit different from the picture in their Facebook album. I expected color as showed in the pic on Facebook. You can compare the colors from those pics above. The one from HH Facebook's album is more darker/browner than the one I received in reality. Perhaps it's because of the lighting effect..?? However, I still remain loving this shawl... :)

For this season, the theme of Hijab House's latest collection is Library Chic Look, and their most demanded products until now are the signature abaya, maxi cardigan, and their beautiful flowery two-tones hijabs.

My Latest Buy: Claro Headdress

The first time I heard about Claro Headdress was from Dessy's blog, Living Daisy.

Claro Headdress is a kind of inner/under scarf or bonnet, which covers the hair, ears, neck, and upper bosom.

Only during the past few weeks, I knew that some people call this kind of headdresses, 'Inner Ninja'. It must be because of their looks that look like ninja's mask.. :)

After I read about it in Living Daisy, I got interested in but I didn't straightly try to find it because of my busy work (as a Mom... ^_^) at that time.

Then about few weeks ago, some photos of stylish Muslimahs remind me about it.

According to Dessy, I tried to find it through Facebook search. And I found Claroshop Claro. I continued to look at their albums. They have gorgeous range of products, such as the headdress, for sure, which came with its veil in many colours, 'Chenille': a dress with a hood plus free headdress, and the jewelled headbands.

Why do I really want to buy this kind of headdress:

I love to wrap my hijab in many styles and try new hijab styles..
Sometimes the style I tried could not covered all 'that must be covered (hair, ears, neck, and upper bosom)'.

Or, it needs lots of pins, just to make sure that the hijab/headscarf has covered all 'that must be covered'.

In other cases, the top I'm wearing has a very low neckline, so if I'm wearing it, I will have to stick to a hijab-wrap that can cover that 'open skin', or I have to wear a 'manset'/turtle neck t-shirt or a neck-extension underneath to stay covered.

So I thought this kind of headdress or inner ninja will be very useful as an 'inner scarf'. It covers your hair, ears, neck, and upper bosom very neatly.

By wearing it inside your hijab/headscarf will let you easily doing almost all hijab wrapping without worried that you will left some spots uncovered. Even you can wear your headscarf in Turban styles..

I bought this headdress online from Claroshop. Love it! It meets my expectation. The material was made from cotton (some people like to call this kind of material 'bahan kaos', in Bahasa Indonesia). It's breathable, light-weight, and cool.. so it's really comfort to wear.

It has a strap at the back of neck, and a hole at the back of head, so you can adjust your hair easily (or perhaps it was made for some air circulation for your head??... ^_^).

Look from the back

I bought it in colour Black, because I think I can match it with almost all my wardrobe pieces. Really in love with it!

Now, Claro headdress in other colors are going to my wishlist... :)
I also suggested Claroshop to design headdress without hole at the back, so it can be 'outer' hijab, too.. :)

Other trusted online shops on Facebook which I found have this kind of headdress or inner ninja are Nably Covered and Such!by Suchi Utami. They all are based in Indonesia.

Review: Mahi Gown from iLoveModesty.com

Remember my previous post about my waiting for a giveaway that I won from iLoveModesty.com (an online Canadian Fashion Boutique)?

Yes, I have received it! I received the parcel on September 30, 2010. It's a very long awaiting. The parcel has been sent from Mississauga, ON Canada, on August 11, 2010. So It took almost two months for the parcel to arrive at the post office near my place! Then, I took it myself at the post office. This is a short story about it:

At the first time I went to the post office and found that my parcel haven't arrived yet, the post office's officer
asked me the delivery number of the parcel, so they can trace the parcel. But, I can't give it to them. I said I didn't have that number and I will ask about it to the parcel's sender.

On the next day I asked Neelam from iLoveModesty about it. She said there's no delivery number on the receipt, and the post office in Canada didn't have it too. So, Neelam sent me the copy of the delivery receipt. I brought the copy of the receipt to the post office here, and they told me to wait. They will call me when the parcel has arrived. So I didn't have to go there over and over again just to check whether my parcel has arrived or not.

The post office's officer said to me that the parcel perhaps already arrived in Indonesia but it must go through the Customs' procedur first (open, check the content, and then wrap it again; we even also have to pay the cost to wrap the parcel again) before it sent to the post office here. The delayed perhaps because it get stucked in this procedur.

Hmmm... but I think it shouldn't take so much time. The Customs and the post offices here should improve their service. But Neelam said maybe a case like this didn't happen very often. Perhaps it's just my unlucky day... :)

Now, back to the dress I got from iLoveModesty!

First thing, this is a very late review. Over the last few days, I didn't have time to take pictures of the gown. And here's the review... ^_^:

(Photos above: courtesy of iLoveModesty)

The dress, called Mahi Gown, arrived bubble-wrapped and in the customary brown envelope. Inside the envelope, the dress was wrapped with a red paper and a sticker with iLoveModesty's name and address on it.

First Impression: How does it look and feel on?
IT LOOKS SOOO LOVELY... and looks exactly the same with the picture on iLoveModesty's website.

I love the colors and the color combination of this dress: pink, purple, white, and silver. The flower embroidery looks beautiful. I also love the two colour tiered skirt at the bottom overlay with an embroidered net lace.

It feels so comfortable to wear. It's not heavy, soft, and not heat inducing.

What is the material like?
The embroidered net line is like the lace or 'brocade' fabrics that we have here, in Indonesia. In Indonesia there are a wide range of net lace like this. It's BEAUTIFUL. The silver threads on embroidered flowers also add a beautiful effect on that dress.

The silk materials feels so soft and light. Overall, the dress is off good quality workmanship. According to the website, the material of the dress are silk, rayon, and net, and it needs hand wash or dry-clean only.

The fit-nes on my body:
The dress fit perfectly on my body. It drapes beautifully and modestly. But the length of the dress is too long for me, even when I added a pair of high heels.

I think this can happen because I didn't sent them my height and they also didn't ask me for it. I just looked up at the size chart of body measurement on iLoveModesty's site. There are only size chart for bust, waist, and hip, not include the height. So, according to that chart, I sent them the measurement of my bust, waist, and hip only, and that means that my measurement fall on size S.

Perhaps that's why the dress is too long for me. Now I must do some 'make over' at the bottom of the dress.

Wearability:
The dress available in short sleeves and long sleeves (on request). I got the short sleeves' one. This versatile embroidered-net dress, just like a lace dress, is more suited to be wore to very dressy occasions. According to the website, this gown is meant to be a Summer-style party dress.

It could be wear with a white, red maroon, or pink blazer, paired with a pink/maroon 'big flower' belt. Or, wear it with a white long-sleeves tee inside.

And one more thing, there's no zipper at the back or side of the dress. You should wear it from the bottom's side of the dress. For me, I like this. Note, if you order this dress in a 'fit-size', or if you have a wide shoulder, or if the size of your bust is much bigger than your waist's size, there's a possibility that the dress can not slide down smoothly on your body, or even it can't slide down on your body at all.

What are the cons?
  • There are a few very tiny not so good stitching at the bottom of this gown. But they're very very tiny which is not obvious... :)
  • About the price, for me, who live in Indonesia, it's a bit expensive. Note that to determine the price (whether it's expensive or not) depends on where country do we live in and our financial ability... :)
    Any other thoughts?
Overall, I LOVE THIS GOWN! It's so gorgeous and comfort to wear.

One thing that need more attention is for clothing orders. The website should ask about the height of the 'Wear-er'.

The service is excellent! Neelam kindly gave her attention on whether I've got my parcel or not. She even told me that if the parcel has lost, she would sent me another one... :) Thank you so much, Neelam.

    Would you recommend this gown?
YES, DEFINITELY! It's gorgeous and I feel so beautiful and elegant in it... :)

Have you tried any of iLoveModesty products? What do you think?

    Note:
I get this FREE, a gift courtesy of iLoveModesty from a competition I entered. The review is just my honest opinion. Hope it would be helpful for those who need it... :)

    A Lovely Dress from iLoveModesty

Just want to share my happiness... ^_^ .

About a week ago, I have won a free gift from iLoveModesty, an online Canadian Fashion Boutique founded in 2009 with the aim of providing stylish modest clothing. I have a CA$100 shopping voucher to be spent at their website. So I can choose which item I want from the site, and then I chose this dress (Mahi Gown):

It worth CA$ 96.99. What an expensive gown! So from CA$100 shopping voucher, I get only 1 item... ^_^.
From the picture on their website, the dress looks so gorgeous, and I love the color! I can't wait to see it 'in action' on me! :)

Everyday I've been waiting for the parcel, but until now I'm not receiving it yet. Perhaps my expectation was too big. I thought I will receive it in one week... hmm but after a second thought, I think it might need some more time to the gift to arrive... because Canada is sooo far from here. Do any of you know how long does it take to deliver a parcel from Canada to Indonesia?

Soon, after I receive my parcel, I want to do a review about the dress. So, if you intend to shop from iLoveModesty, and need this review, watch this space, I'll do my best to do an honest review.

    Note:
I get this FREE gift courtesy of iLoveModesty from a competition I entered. I receive no compensation for doing this review. The review would be just my honest opinion, and I thought it would be helpful for those who need it... :)
